Star Wars 9: Will Ewan McGregor return as Obi-Wan?

Rumor has it that Obi-Wan, played by Ewan McGregor, will make an appearance in Star Wars IX.

With Rey just starting to master the Force, which Jedi will return to guide her? That’s the big question that fans are asking. While a Star Wars internal source claims that Yoda will come back, different rumors point to Luke Skywalker’s return. But this seems quite unlikely, as actor Mark Hamill announced that he was finished playing the legendary character.

Now, another name has been mentioned: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader’s mentor! The British tabloid The Sun reports that comedian Ewan McGregor has been asked to shoot some scenes “in secret” for the next installment of the franchise.

Of course, this information is to be taken with a grain of salt, as no filming date has been revealed. Still, we know that Ewan McGregor has expressed a desire to reprise his role in the franchise. If the rumor is confirmed, it will make fans of the character very happy, especially since a film centered on Obi-Wan seems to have been shelved for now.

And after the box-office failure of “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” there will be no spin-offs for a while. The final installment in the new trilogy, directed by J.J. Abrams, could contain a pleasant surprise, like Jedi Master Yoda’s cameo as a ghost in “The Last Jedi.”
