The Nintendo Switch Labo Robot kit is just £15 at Amazon

Confession time, reader: I bought one of these before starting to write the piece. A friend of mine has been eyeing up the Labo kits for his kids, but was put off by the high price of entry. I grabbed one on his behalf before opening Google Docs to write it up. At launch, the Labo Robot kit cost £79. Now, at Amazon, you can buy it for just £14.99 (or £17.98 if you’re not a Prime member) . That’s a ridiculously good price that you’re unlikely to beat. For those that don’t know, Nintendo Labo is new Switch software and hardware. Only, in this case, the hardware is made out of cardboard that you assemble yourself. This is the Robot Kit, which means you're putting together over 40 bits and pieces before becoming the robot in a fun game exclusively for Switch. It’ll take you four to five hours to build, but this is all part of the fun. It’s more Lego than Ikea flatpack. As Vaughn wrote in his review: “What makes Nintendo Labo so sublime is how it uses simple materials – cardboard – to create wonderful contraptions. “Instead of simply being aimed at kids or skilled adults, it’s entirely family focused, and will appeal to kids as young as six all the way through to early teens. Heck, I’m nearly 30 and I was entranced by the folding of cardboard, the ingenuity of Nintendo’s craftsmanship and Labo’s seemingly limitless potential.” If you were tempted by Labo, but worried you were going to have wasted £70 on something that sat unloved in your living room, then it’s now far less of a gamble. And if Vaughn’s experience is anything to go by, you’ll have an absolute blast with it. Go on: release your inner robot. Buy now from Amazon
