What Are Seeders and Leechers?

If you often frequent P2P or FTP download websites, you may have come across the terms seeders and leechers. This tutorial will explain to you what these terms mean and when they are used.

Difference Between Seeders and Leechers

The term "seeders" refers to users who have the complete file and are sharing it. In other words, these are the people who are uploading the data.

The term "leechers" refers to the users who are downloading the files. This term can also refer to a person who advocates the paternity of a link, without being the one who originally provided the file for download on the sharing platform.

This means that the more seeders present per file, the quicker the file will download. Conversely, if there are only leechers, there is nothing to download.
