Combine and Merge Files Into One PDF

PDF Creator and other PDF editing software gives users the flexibility of merging multiple PDF files into a single or multiple file options. This helps users to collate various documents while retaining the individual elements as well. During this process the user also has the option to edit the merged document.

Why Use PDF File Format

PDFs are an ideal file format for several reasons. The first is that they allow you to lock in document formatting so that all viewers of a given document will see it under the formatting that its creator intended.

It is also fairly difficult to modify, making it very useful for preserving author's rights and sharing sensitive information.

Finally, it allows for extensive compression without needing to alter the information or its formatting, making file sharing easier than ever.

How To Merge PDF Files

On Windows

PDF Creator is a software that allows users to combine several files into one using its printer function.

First, download the program. Then, open all of the PDF files that you wish to assemble.

For the first file, select File > Print, choose PDF Creator as the printer, and select Print. In the print dialogue box, select Wait collate.

Open the second file and repeat the above actions, then do the same for all of the files. The Print Monitor will display a list of all of the files, which will be highlighted.

Go to Menu > Document Merge. Your files should now all be present in one document.

On Mac

Mac users are fortunate when it comes to merging PDF documents in that this function is already built into their systems. To do so, open the PDF documents that you would like to merge and click the Menu icon button in the top-left corner:

Next, make sure that there is no check mark next to the Thumbnails option:

You should now see the list of pages in your document.

Click one of the pages, then press Command [⌘] + A to select all of the pages. (If you only want to merge certain pages, click the chosen pages while pressing down the Command [⌘] key.)

Next, drag the pages and drop them into the list of pages of the document with which you would like to merge them. You should wait to see the + before letting go of your mouse to ensure that the files were, indeed, merged.

Be sure to save your document so that your changes are taken into account.

Online

There are many sites that exist to help you merge your PDF files online. Some of the most popular ones include PDF Merge and Small PDF.
